The Weißbach (Czech Fukovský potok ) is a left tributary of the upper Spree in Taubenheim / Spree in the Saxon district of Bautzen with a length of 3.5 kilometers.

description

The Weißbach rises southeast of the Schafberg ( 390  m ) in the Schluckenau Forest near Harrachsthal (Harrachov) ; its source, the "Bautzner Born", is a few meters south of the German border in the Czech Republic. The upper course of the brook runs in a north-easterly direction, initially for a length of approx. 250 meters through German territory and then at the western foot of the Sonneberg ( 401  m ) into the Fugau tip belonging to the Czech Republic. South of the Hopfenberg ( Chmelový vrch , 376  m ) the Weißbach turns to the northwest; it then flows through the southern part of the Neu Fugau desert (Nový Fukov) and reaches German territory again at the Neue Schenke, where its valley runs between the Schafberg ( 390  m ) and the Steinberg ( 375  m ). In the Czech Republic, the stream runs for 1.2 kilometers.

East of the Taubenberg ( 458  m ) the Weißbach takes a northerly direction. Your valley, in which the district of Neutaubenheim extends, is dominated by the Steinberg ( 375  m ) and Galgenberg ( 343  m ) in the east . In Neu-Taubenheim, the Weißbach feeds the Weißbachtal adventure pool with its clean water, as well as the mill pond in the lower part of the village.

To the east of the former Taubenheim (Spree) station , the Oberoderwitz – Wilthen railway bridges the stream. Up until 1945, the Taubenheim – Dürrhennersdorf narrow-gauge railway ran across the Weißbachtal directly behind it . Below the railway bridge, the stream reaches Taubenheim / Spree ; its water power was used here by a mill. The Weißbach flows into the Spree in Taubenheim under the bridge between Oberdorfgasse and Oppacher Weg .

Tributaries

On the right-hand side of the Czech territory, the Weißbach has two nameless rivulets flowing from the Sonneberg and Hopfenberg. The most important tributary is a stream popularly known as the "Flössel", which flows into the Oberdorf von Neu-Taubenheim from the left from the Lange Wiese between Taubenberg and Schafberg.
