history
Weißlensburg was mentioned in 1407 as Wissingspürg as a hamlet with its own district . The place is possibly identical to the places Wessevenhofen and Wislingsdorf mentioned in 1311 and 1387 . The place got its name possibly from the proximity to Neudeck Castle or from another castle north of the place that has disappeared, from which only field names such as Burgwiesen , Schloßacker , Burggasse and others could tell. In the 15th century the place belonged to the imperial estate of the Lords of Weinsberg and later came to Württemberg . Although there were only up to six residential buildings in Weißlensburg up to the 18th century, the property was severely fragmented. Apart from Württemberg u. a. the Lords of Berlichingen , the Öhringen monastery and various lines of the Hohenlohe family . Due to the fragmentation of the courtyards, the place grew in the 18th century to more than 20 residential buildings plus auxiliary buildings. In 1820 Weißlensburg had 138 inhabitants. The place had its own mayor until 1837 and came to Bitzfeld in 1845.
