Weigoldsberg is a protected landscape area (protected area number 1.17.051) in the district of Göppingen .

Location and description

The protected area was created by ordinance of the District Office Göppingen of December 22nd, 1975. It covers almost the entire contiguous area of ​​the Weigoldsberg between the Degginger district Reichenbach im Täle and the Bad Überkinger districts Hausen an der Fils and Unterböhringen . It belongs to the natural area 094- Middle Kuppenalb within the natural spatial main unit 09- Swabian Alb . Parts of the landscape protection area are in the FFH area 7423-342 Filsalb and in the bird sanctuary 7422-441 Middle Swabian Alb . The 4.8 hectare registered natural monument Heide Weigoldsberg is located in the landscape protection area.

Protection purpose

The main protection purpose is the preservation of the charming, natural landscape with the diversity of its formative elements as a natural habitat and recreation area as well as a retreat for species-rich flora and fauna. A special protection of nature and landscape in their entirety and in individual parts is necessary in order to preserve the near-natural parts of the landscape with high recreational value for the general public.
