The Weilerhalde area is a protected forest (protected area number 100048) in Baden-Württemberg that was designated by the Tübingen Corporate Forestry Directorate by ordinance of November 8, 2004 .

definition

In Baden-Württemberg, forest reserves are total reserves in which any use is prohibited by ordinance. In other countries in Germany, the total reserves are known as natural forest reserve , natural forest parcel , natural forest cell or natural forest . Forests are used for scientific research into natural processes in forests. Due to their wealth of structure and dead wood, ban forests are retreats for many endangered animal, plant and fungus species.

location

The 4.52 hectare Weilerhalde Bannwald , which belongs to the natural areas of Stuttgarter Bucht and Filder, is located around 600 meters south-east of the Weil district of Esslingen on the steep slope of the Filder Plain to the Neckar Valley . It is part of the Butzenwiesen-Klebwald-Kühhalde-Letten landscape protection area (1.16.088).

Protection purpose

According to the ordinance, an essential protection purpose is to ensure the uninfluenced development of the respective forest ecosystems with their animal and plant species as well as fungi, as well as to ensure scientific observation of the development. This includes the protection of the habitats and communities that are located in the areas, change in the course of the self-dynamic development of the forest stands within the protected areas or arise through the self-dynamic development.

care, support

The Bannwald Weilerhalde is scientifically supervised by the Forestry Experimental and Research Institute Baden-Württemberg (BVA).
