Welschdörfli

The Welschdörfli is a quarter in the Grisons canton capital Chur , which is known as an entertainment district and as the bottleneck for transit traffic. Archaeological finds show that today's Welschdörfli was temporarily settled around 5000 years ago.

location

Welschdörfli is located west of the old town on the left side of the Plessur and begins immediately in front of the Obertor .

Surname

The name Welschdörfli emerged in the late Middle Ages, was largely completed towards the Germans as the city of Chur language changes the settlements outside the city walls but still Romansh , the Italians , held fast.

Infrastructure

The Welschdörfli is dominated by a larger hotel, inns and establishments . Single church building is the Church of Peace of the Methodists . The protected buildings by the architect Peter Zumthor over a Neolithic and later an ancient Roman settlement, the Curia Raetorum, are well worth seeing .
