Verkhniy Jalowez ( Ukrainian Верхній Яловець , Russian Верхний Яловец Verkhniy Jalowez , Romanian Ialovățul de Sus ) is a village in the Eastern Carpathians in the southwest of the Ukrainian Oblast Chernivtsi with about 180 inhabitants (2006).
Verkhniy Jalowez belongs administratively to the district municipality Shepit within the Rajon Putyla . The community center Schepit is 7 km southeast, the Rajon center Putyla about 30 km north and the oblast capital Chernivtsi about 100 km northeast of the village.
The mountain village is located at an altitude of 980 m in the southeast of the historical Bukovina landscape near the Ukrainian-Romanian border . In the village the 18 km long Jalowytschera ( Яловичера ) flows into the Bilyj Cheremosh from the right .
