Werner-Jakob Korsmeier

Werner-Jakob Korsmeier (born February 19, 1931 in Verl ; † July 17, 2020 in Münster ) was a German sculptor , painter and artist .

Life

After five years of training as a sculptor, Korsmeier worked in numerous areas of art. He mainly created sculptures , paintings , colored windows and mosaics as well as conceptualized overall designs. In Germany and other countries, numerous of his works can be found in public, often church areas. In the 1970s he was commissioned to design the St. Antonius monastery church in Bad Bentheim- Bardel. For this he created a 50 m² mosaic and a crucifixion picture. In 1987 he won first prize in the competition for the artistic design of the Emsland district house in Meppen .

Until his death, Korsmeier lived alternately in the Münster children's home and in the south of France. He died on July 17, 2020 after a brief illness.
