Werner Geise

Johann Werner Geise (also Geiss ; * in Marburg ; † December 3, 1658 ibid) was a German historian , philosopher and university professor .

Life

Geise's origins and training are unknown. In 1618 he appears as the tutor of Prince Hermann of Hesse . He became a teacher of Latin language, philosophy and law at the Collegium Adelphicum in Kassel. In 1628 he got the office of rentmaster in Wanfried .

Geise received in 1646 a reputation as a full professor of practical philosophy at the University of Kassel . In 1651 and 1652 he held the office of rector there and in 1651 he represented the University of Kassel as a member of the state parliament in Kassel. When the universities of Marburg and Kassel were merged again and the location in Kassel was closed, Geise received the full professorship of history and eloquence at the University of Marburg on June 16, 1653 . On June 20, 1653, he was awarded the master's degree in Marburg and, on June 27, 1653, the office of the Pedagogical Institute at the Marburg Pedagogy .
