Werner Hofmann (born April 30, 1925 in Karlstadt ; † January 18, 2003 there ) was a German local politician of the SPD.

Life

Werner Hofmann attended elementary school from 1931 to 1939 and then did a 3-year apprenticeship at the land consolidation office in Ansbach with a final examination as a surveyor . During the Second World War , he was drafted into labor and military service from 1942 to 1945. He was taken prisoner by the British at the end of the war and was released in September 1945.

In the post-war period from 1946 to 1950 he was deputy head of the Karlstadt Food Office. From March 1950 he worked as a technical clerk at the district office , and from July 1960 he moved to the city of Karlstadt as a construction technician .

Werner Hofmann was politically active from 1951. In his home district, the former Karlstadt district , he became chairman of the SPD from 1955. Werner Hofmann was mayor of the district town of Karlstadt in the newly organized district of Main-Spessart from 1973 to 1991 . As early as May 1966, he held the office of second mayor. During his tenure as mayor, the Bavarian regional reform fell from 1971 to 1980 . He was also a city councilor from 1956 to 1994 and a member of the district council from 1961 to 1994.
