Werner Lüthgen

Werner Lüthgen (born March 31, 1933 in Bochum ; † February 13, 2017 ) was a German veterinarian .

Life

Lüthgen grew up in Gelsenkirchen and graduated from high school in 1953 at the Grillo-Gymnasium. He then studied veterinary medicine at the universities in Cologne , Giessen , Berlin and Vienna . During his studies he became a member of the Corps Silesia Breslau and the Corps Starkenburgia . After the state examination, he was awarded a Dr. med. vet. PhD. Then he completed his veterinary internship in Essen. In 1965 he passed the exam as an official veterinarian in Giessen. At the same time he was from 1962 to 1981 in the veterinary investigation office in Frankfurt am Mainactive. As a specialist veterinarian for poultry diseases, he became a nationally recognized specialist in his discipline. In 1981 he moved to the Darmstadt regional council as a department head , and later as a ministerial advisor to the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs in Wiesbaden until he retired in 1998 .

In 1998 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his professional activity and his voluntary work in numerous organizations .

For his many years of work for the benefit of pedigree poultry breeding in Germany, but also in Europe, he was awarded the golden ring of honor by the Federation of German Pedigree Poultry Breeders (BDRG) on the occasion of the 2010 National Winner Show.
