Werner Schmidt (musician)
Werner Schmidt (born April 21, 1932 in Colmitz ) is a German jazz musician ( soprano , tenor and baritone saxophone , clarinet ).
Act
Schmidt completed an instrumental course at the Dresden University of Music from 1950 to 1955 . 1956/1957 he played in Kurt Hohenberger's orchestra ; between 1958 and 1960 he was a member of Theo Schumann's combo . In 1960/1961 he belonged to the Leipzig Radio Dance Orchestra , from 1962 to the Berlin Radio Dance Orchestra under Günter Gollasch , with whom he already appeared in 1960 at the Jazz Jamboree in Warsaw. He worked in various studio bands, for example in the Berlin-Leipzig combo in 1965 and in Hubert Katzenbeier's tentet . He can be heard on records with Rec Demont, with Arno Flor and his string orchestra, Jerzy Milian , Manfred Krug / Günter Fischer , Uschi Brüning or Uncle Stanislaus and his jazz grandpas .
