Werner Strenger

Werner Strenger (born July 9, 1969 in Graz ) is an Austrian actor and university professor for drama at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz .

Life

Werner Strenger spent his childhood and youth in Graz and attended the Academic Gymnasium , where he graduated in 1987. From 1988 to 1992 he studied drama at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. His artistic activity took him to Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. He initially worked as a university lecturer at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and has been a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz since 2013. Werner Strenger is married and has three children.

Werner Strenger was engaged at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck from 1992 to 1997 . From 1997 to 2004 an engagement at the Deutsches Theater in Göttingen followed . He then worked at the Schlosstheater Moers from 2004 to 2007, at the Schauspiel Essen from 2007 to 2010 and at the Schauspielhaus Bochum from 2010 to 2013 . During this time he also played as a guest at the Toneelgroep Amsterdam and at the Veenfabriek Leiden in the Netherlands. From 2013 he appeared as a freelance actor at the Veenfabriek Leiden, the Schlosstheater Moers, Schauspielhaus Bochum, Schauspielhaus Graz , the Davos Festival / Ernst-Ludwig-Kirchner-Museum Davos and the Volksbühne Berlin . At the Schlosstheater Moers, Werner Strenger was significantly involved in artistic research on topics of social diversity. Werner Stern worked with the directors and directors David Boesch , Nuran David Calis , Peter Carp , Ulrich Greb , Volker Hesse , Paul Koek , Sebastian Nübling , Bernadette Sonnenbichler , Lily Sykes , Katharina Thalbach , Kay Voges , Roger Vontobel and Anselm Weber together .

University

At the same time as his engagements at the Schauspiel Essen and the Schauspielhaus Bochum, Werner Strenger was a lecturer at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen from 2008 to 2013. Since 2013 he has been Professor of Drama at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. He is primarily concerned with the phenomenon of performative action as a fundamental material in the art of acting. He is a member of the University's Center for Gender Research.
