Werner Theodor Schaurte (born May 22, 1893 in Düsseldorf , † June 25, 1978 in Neuss ) was a German factory owner and industrialist .

family

The father Christian Schaurte († 1917) founded the Rheinische screw and nut factory Bauer & Schaurte in Neuss with Georg Bauer († 1906) from Cologne .

Life

From 1911 to 1914 he completed an engineering degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge (USA).

On January 17, 1917, he took over the Bauer & Schaurte screw factory, which also employed slave labor during the war . He was a member of the NSDAP party, a member of the SA and friends of Hermann Göring .

In 1939 he was with Count Lothar von Hoensbroech in Canada on a hunting expedition. Both were arrested, presumably at the request of England, and interned on the Isle of Man at Dunluce House, Ramsay, where they were at Christmas 1940. No information is available about the time of their repatriation during the war.

Under circumstances that have not yet been fully clarified, the responsible denazification commission classified him in category 4. Follower . He was a member of the German Men's Club .

He became Dr.-Ing. eh of the Technische Hochschule Darmstadt , honorary president of the German Rider and Driver Association, was a member of the Board of the International Trustees of the World Wildlife Fund and chairman of the Rhinoceros Group Survival Service Commission of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources .

In 1917 he married Charlotte Staudt († 1972). The son Christian W. Schaurte (* 1918) also became a manufacturer of the Bauer & Schaurte company. His daughter-in-law was the dressage rider Anneliese Küppers .
