Heinrich Werner Bernhard von Erdmannsdorff (born July 26, 1891 in Bautzen , † June 5, 1945 in Laibach , Yugoslavia ) was a German infantry general in World War II .

Life

origin

Werner was a son of the royal Saxon bailiff and Rittmeister a. D. Heinrich von Erdmannsdorff (* 1852) and his wife Gertrud, born von Schönberg (* 1865) from the Kreipitzsch family . The later major general Gottfried von Erdmannsdorff was his younger brother.

Military career

Erdmannsdorff led the 18th Infantry Division as commander in World War II and received the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on March 8, 1942 . In 1945 Erdmannsdorff became the commanding general of the LXXXXI. Army Corps and was captured by Yugoslav partisans who shot him.
