West Atambua ( Indonesian Atambua Barat ) is an Indonesian district ( Kecamatan ) in the administrative district of Belu (province of East Nusa Tenggara ) on the island of Timor .
geography
West Atambua is bordered by Atambua to the east, by Kakuluk Mesak to the northwest and by South Atambua ( Atambua Selatan ) to the south .
The West Atambua district is divided into the Desas Beirafu (5,614 inhabitants 2010), Berdao (4,161), Tulamalae (4,890) and Umanen (6,939).
The administrative seat is in Sesekoe .
Residents
In 2010 West Atambua lived 21,604 people. The majority of them belong to the northern Tetum ethnic group and the majority are of the Catholic faith .
