Westewitz is a district of the community Großweitzschen in the district of central Saxony in Saxony .

The place is southwest of the core town Großweitzschen on the county road K 7542. The Zieschbach flows through the place. It flows into the Freiberger Mulde flowing on the southwest and southern outskirts . The B 175 runs further south .

In 1241 Mgf. Heinrich the Illustrious gave the monastery Buch the mill in Westewiz , which Albert von Hartha had left open. 1254 the transfer of the village Westewiz itself, which the von Hartha had abandoned. The abbot now lent parts himself again, because in 1271 Albertus, Theodericus, Cunradus fratres de Westhewiz left their fiefs (two gardens and the fishery) for the abbot and received six and a half marks for it. In 1548, the official inheritance book of the Buch zu Westewitz monastery names “9 possessed men, including 4 horse men, who are all loanable and interestable to the Buch monastery” with 10 hooves. Nature reserves

To the north extends the 19.24 ha large nature reserve (NSG) Hochweitzschener Wald and to the west, in the area of ​​the neighboring community Hartha , the 11.52 ha large NSG Staupenbachtal (see list of nature reserves in Saxony , NSG No. C 92 and C 96).
