The urban area has a size of 26.2 km². Westminster is a suburb of Los Angeles , with whose metropolitan area Westminster has grown together seamlessly.
The city was founded in 1870 by the Presbyterian Reverend Lemuel Webber . Today Westminster is known for its high proportion of Asian immigrants, especially from Vietnam . With Tri Ta Westminster has the first elected Vietnamese mayor in the United States.
