Wey is an agricultural district of the city of Jüchen in the Rhine district of Neuss in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Geographical location

The village is framed by orchards, which have been rebuilt in recent decades through land and private commitment. Extensive renovation and renovation work on the local roads, as well as the creativity and commitment of the residents, have significantly improved the overall appearance of the village.

history

Wey belonged to the office of Kaster in the Electorate of Cologne until 1794 . In 1794 French troops occupied the place. The Commune Wey was created, which was part of Mairie Kelzenberg. Wey thus belonged to the Arrondissement de Cologne in the Département de la Roer . In 1815 Wey came to the Kingdom of Prussia . A year later, the Wey community was formed in the Kelzenberg mayor's office . Wey has been part of the Jüchen community since 1934 .

Wey has several local associations, whereby there are many cross-local cooperations with the neighboring village of Hoppers. For this purpose, the "Wey-Hoppers Village Community" was founded in 1982.

Various events take place every year, with the “barn festival” taking place in June being used as a gathering of the local people and the neighboring towns. The 25th anniversary of the village community was celebrated in 2007 with a three-day “barn festival”.
