history

The Evangelical Church in Kelzenberg

Kelzenberg belonged to the County of Jülich since 1300 in the Middle Ages. After Jülich became a duchy, Kelzenberg came to the office of Kaster in the Electorate of Cologne . In 1794 the place was occupied by French troops. The Mairie Kelzenberg was created, to which the communes Waat and Wey were assigned. The Mairie Kelzenberg belonged to the canton of Odenkirchen in the Arrondissement of Krefeld in the Département de la Roer . In 1815 Kelzenberg came to the Kingdom of Prussia . A year later, the mayor Kelzenberg that the new created district Grevenbroich in the administrative district of Dusseldorf was affiliated. It consisted of the villages of Dürselen, Hoppers, Kamphausen, Kelzenberg, Schaan, Waat and Wey. In 1927 the mayor's office in Kelzenberg was renamed to Amt Kelzenberg. At that time it belonged to the district court and tax office Grevenbroich and the Post Jüchen. Both the office and the Kelzenberg community were dissolved in 1934.
