Gert Trinklein (born June 19, 1949 in Frankfurt am Main ; † July 11, 2017 there ) was a German football player . The defensive player, who mostly takes the position of libero, played a total of 230 league games at Eintracht Frankfurt from 1969 to 1977 in the Bundesliga and scored ten goals. The "Schoppe-Gert" called Frankfurter belonged to the two winning teams of 1974 and 1975 in the DFB Cup under coach Dietrich Weise . For the DFB, he ran once in September 1974 in the B national team .

Football career

Trinklein, who came to Eintracht in 1967 from Rot-Weiss Frankfurt, made his debut under coach Erich Ribbeck on May 31, 1969 in a 4-1 away win against Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga. The former amateur came on for Hermann-Dieter Bellut in the 46th minute . From the 1969/70 season he belonged to the Eintracht tribe formation. From 2006, Trinklein belonged to the FDP parliamentary group in the Frankfurt city council . In 2011 he was diagnosed with leukemia .

Trinklein died on July 11, 2017.
