The Wißner-Verlag is a regional publisher with a focus on Augsburg , Swabia , musicology , music education , geodesy and Canada based in Augsburg.

history

The publishing house was founded in 1987 by Bernd Wißner. Initially, the company was a service provider for larger publishers such as Langenscheidt , Schöningh and Schneider ( Tutzing ). Since there was a shortage of regional publishers in Augsburg, Wißner-Verlag concentrated its activities on regional titles. Since then, around 300 books on Augsburg and Bavarian Swabia have been published , including city guides, illustrated books and fiction by regional authors . Other topics are regional history, city personalities, art and architecture . In this area, not only print products are published. The Augsburger Stadtlexikon is also available online.

In addition, series of publications, for example by the Swabian Research Association and other associations, are published. To promote young writers, an anthology is published every year in which the best contributions from the Swabian district's literary competition appear. In cooperation with the school department of the city of Augsburg, a writing competition is also held annually, in which the 40,000 Augsburg students can take part. A volume with the texts selected by a jury is published every year. There is also a dedicated editorial team for musicological books and series. The publisher also publishes several magazines, including the Dreigroschenheft , a magazine about Bertolt Brecht , the magazine for Canada studies , the magazine of the Historisches Verein für Schwaben and the zfv - magazine for geodesy, geoinformation and land management .
