Otto Wiedfeldt

Otto Wiedfeldt (born August 16, 1871 in Thüritz , Altmark , † July 5, 1926 in Essen ) was a German politician and economist.

Life

Important stages in his career in the higher administrative service represented his work in the Reich Office of the Interior from 1908 to 1910 and 1914 to 1917. In the meantime, he worked as a ministerial director in the Japanese Ministry of Railways. In 1918 he took over the chairmanship of the board of directors of Friedrich Krupp AG in Essen and at the same time the chairmanship of the Essen Chamber of Commerce. On March 21, 1922, upon appeal by Rathenau  and Eberts , Wiedfeldt was appointed the first German ambassador to Washington after the resumption of diplomatic relations after the First World War . On January 31, 1925, he handed over the management of the embassy to Counselor Dieckhoff . From the end of April 1925 to May 26, 1926, Wiedfeldt returned to the Krupp company as a member of the supervisory board and delegate for financial matters to the board of directors.

On July 5, 1926, Wiedfeldt succumbed to leukemia. He was buried on July 8th in the Meisenburg cemetery in Essen-Bredeney.
