The Wiedweg (formerly Wied-Wanderweg ) is a 106 km long hiking route, which over six stages with lengths of 12 km to 22 km from the source of the Wied bei Linden to the confluence with the Rhine in a large arc through the upper one, the Rhine - and the victory - Westerwald leads.

The route was completely revised in 2008 and made more attractive by relocating the stretches of paved paths back to largely natural or only slightly paved routes. In May 2009 the Wied-Weg was opened in Wied, which meets the Westerwaldsteig several times in its course and connects to the Rheinsteig in Neuwied .

At the same time as the opening of the Wiedweg, the largest nature reserve in the Westerwald district to date with an area of ​​208 hectares was established, the floodplains of the Upper Wiedtal.
