The Wiera is an almost 15 km long, left or southwestern tributary of the Schwalm in the Hessian districts of Marburg-Biedenkopf and Schwalm-Eder .
course
The Wiera rises near the Rhine-Weser watershed in the Neustädter Sattel , the central part of the Upper Hessian threshold between the towns of Stadtallendorf and Neustadt in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district . Its source is in the Stadtallendorf district, but after just 300 m the stream, which mainly flows in a north-easterly direction, reaches the Neustadt area. There it flows through the city center and then reaches the place named after it Wiera , a district of Schwalmstadt in the Schwalm-Eder district . In the Treysa district , the Wiera finally flows into the Schwalm.
The Wiera is accompanied by the Main-Weser Railway for its entire course between the Rhine-Weser watershed and Treysa .
Its most important tributary is the Hardwasser, which flows in from the left above the village of Wiera . The catchment area of the Wiera is the only part of the Marburg-Biedenkopf district that drains towards the Weser , the rest of the district is drained via the Lahn to the Rhine .
