Wiesław Alojzy Mering (born December 10, 1945 in Zuckau , Pomeranian Voivodeship , Poland ) is Bishop of Włocławek .

Life

The auxiliary bishop in Chelmno , Zygfryd Ignacy Kowalski , ordained him on May 21, 1972 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Włocławek on March 25, 2003. The apostolic nuncio in Poland , Józef Kowalczyk , donated him the episcopal ordination on April 26 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Bronisław Dembowski , Bishop Emeritus of Włocławek, and Jan Szlaga , Bishop of Pelplin . His motto is Iustitia, pax et gaudium .

On December 15, 2015, he sent a letter to the President of the EU Parliament, Martin Schulz , in which he criticized his designation of the legislative changes following the 2015 parliamentary elections in Poland as a “coup d'état”.
