meaning

Since it was set up in 2016, the meadow complex near Eisen has replaced the two former nature reserves “Meadows north of Eisen” (NSG-101) and “Wiesen bei Sötern - Waldbach” (NSG-107).

The protection purpose of the nature reserve is the preservation, restoration and development of the habitat types that predominate here. These are, above all, species-rich meadows of nortargrass grass and black alder , ash and willow alluvial forests as well as flowing waters with their flooding aquatic vegetation, pipe grass meadows and lean lowland hay meadows.

The main aim of this is to preserve the habitats of the animal species resident there, such as the crested newt , the great fire butterfly and the helmet azure maiden .
