The Ostertal nature reserve is located in the St. Wendel district in Saarland .

The area, which consists of several sub-areas, extends between Neunkirchen in the south and Herchweiler in the north along the Oster and Blies . The B 420 crosses the area, the border with Rhineland-Palatinate runs to the east .
