The nature reserve valleys of the Ill and its tributaries is located in the districts of Neunkirchen and St. Wendel in Saarland .

The area with the identification number NSG-104, which consists of numerous sub-areas, was placed under nature protection by ordinance of February 1, 2005 . The approximately 1045 hectare nature reserve extends east of the core city Lebach and west and southwest of the core city St. Wendel . The core towns of Alsweiler , Marpingen , Illingen and Eppelborn are in the area . Through the area through which run A 1 , the B 269 , the country road L 33, L 112, and L 299. A 8 extends close to the south.
