The torrent is an approximately 11 km long, left and southern tributary of the Main in the Main-Tauber district of Baden-Württemberg .

course
The torrent rises north of the village of Nassig in the city of Wertheim . It flows south to Nassig and from there then west-south-west to the Freudenberg village of Wessental , finally after the village of Steingasse for the first time in a notch valley. In Wessental, the Sonderrieter torrent flows from the left and from the southeast. Since this only took up the Neunkircher Bach about 100 meters earlier, with its sub-catchment area together clearly exceeds that of the Wildbach upper course, the Sonderrieter Wildbach is officially the main upper course of the Wildbach Bach system. From Wessental, the torrent then flows quite consistently to the north on the second half of its course in a deep notch valley. It flows into the Main from the left to the west of Wertheim- Mondfeld at about Main kilometer 142.7 .
