The Wilde Kasten is a 2542 m high mountain in Austria , which is part of the Peischel group of the Allgäu Alps .
Location and surroundings
It is the second highest peak in the Peischel group. Its neighboring peaks are the Peischelspitze in the west and the Wildmahdspitze in the east .
The notch height of the Wilden Kasten is at least 122 meters, its dominance 1200 meters, whereby the Elbogner peak is the reference mountain .
Ascent
The Wilde Kasten can be climbed without a path over the south ridge from Oberellenbogen in about 4.5 hours. The path leads first over a forest road and later on a path through steep, wooded terrain to the saddle level. From there it goes on climbing tracks into the Peischelkar and later pathless to the south ridge of the summit structure, which is overcome in alpine difficulty UIAA I.
