Wilfried Bohlen
Wilfried Bohlen (born March 23, 1944 in Westerstede ) is a retired Baptist clergyman who was active in management positions in his free church for over 18 years . Since 2008 he has been Chairman of the Presidium of World Vision Germany .
Life
Wilfried Bohlen comes from a Baptist family and grew up in Ammerland . He first learned to be a businessman and, after completing his professional training, studied from 1965 to 1970 at the theological seminar of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches in Hamburg-Horn . Bohlen completed his vicariate in the Evangelical Free Church Community of Uetersen and in 1973 was recognized as a pastor of the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches . From 1975 to 1978 he was pastor in Kiel and then youth pastor of the Evangelical-Free Church State Association of the Rhineland based in Leichlingen (Rhineland) . In 1983 he took over the management of the family holiday resort Dorfweil im Taunus , which he held until 1991.
In the same year, the Federation of Evangelical Free Churches in Germany appointed him as the successor to Herbert Sczepan as speaker of the home mission. In this function, he was responsible for the nationwide missionary work of the Free Church, including its tent mission . In 2003, a structural reform took place within the Evangelical Free Church Association. In this context, Wilfried Bohlen took over the management of the Mission department , which now also includes the Baptist external mission . In addition to his full-time job, Bohlen also worked in a responsible position for several years in the German branch of the Willow Creek movement. Bohlen also served on the main board of the German Evangelical Alliance for twelve years , including six years on its executive committee . Since 2008 he has been the successor of Wilfried Reuter and the 1st chairman of the children's aid organization World Vision . He remained in this position even after he retired in 2009.
