Wilfried Lippitz

Wilfried Lippitz (born March 2, 1945 in Berlin ) is a German educational scientist and professor emeritus for systematic and comparative educational science at the Justus Liebig University . He is a representative of a phenomenologically oriented educational science.

Live and act

Lippitz completed after graduation 1966 Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-School in Osnabrück a teaching degree at the University of Education Lower (Department Osnabrück), graduating to the first state examination for teaching in elementary schools 1969th He passed the second teaching examination after two years as a junior teacher at the community school in Vörden near Osnabrück. This was followed by a doctoral degree at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, which he completed in 1976 with the dissertation Critical Reconstruction of Educational Philosophy Foundations of Josef Derbolav's Dialectical Educational Theory, focusing on the problem of theory and practice at the University of Osnabrück .

From 1975 Lippitz was a research assistant in teacher training at the comprehensive university and later University of Siegen . In 1980 he completed his habilitation there with the text 'Lebenswelt' or the rehabilitation of pre-scientific experience. Approaches to a phenomenologically based anthropological sociological thinking in educational science . In the department of "Educational Science - Psychology - Sport" he received the license to teach educational science. From 1980 to 1986 he worked as a private lecturer and on a temporary professorship at the Siegen University for teacher training.

Since 1986 he has worked at the German Institute for Distance Learning at the University of Tübingen in the field of adult education. In 1988 he was appointed adjunct professor and had been honorary professor at the University of Tübingen since 1991. After visiting professorships at the University of Jena as well as in Kiel and Osnabrück, a professorship for general pedagogy at the University of Osnabrück (Vechta Department) followed in 1994 . In 1995 he became professor for systematic and comparative education at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen. He worked there until he retired in 2008.

Research priorities

Works in the fields of educational anthropology , educational theory , biography research , childhood research , education form the focus of Lippitz's phenomenological-educational research. Its philosophical orientation is based on the tradition of Edmund Husserl , Merleau-Ponty , Bernhard Waldenfels , Emmanuel Lévinas . Together with Käthe Meyer-Drawe and representatives of the Utrecht School (Beekman, Levering, van Manen) and Malte Brinkmann , he developed a conception of experience based on the world of life in a critical examination of the phenomenological tradition of education and the social sciences , which in addition to the intellectual, also the sensual and physical Systematically considered dimensions of experience.

Lippitz founded the international working group for phenomenological-pedagogical research, which met annually from 1980 to 1990 and maintained relationships with researchers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada and the USA. Lippitz was a consultant on the editorial team of Phenomenology and Pedagogy ( University of Alberta ). He was co-editor of the yearbook for educational theory together with Walter Bauer, Winfried Marotzki , Jörg Ruhloff , Alfred Schäfer , Christine Wulf . Together with Malte Brinkmann and Ursula Stenger, he is the editor of the Phenomenological Educational Science series .
