Wilhelm Buettemeyer

Wilhelm Büttemeyer (* 1940 ) is a German philosopher and university professor .

Life

Büttemeyer studied philosophy , mathematics and musicology in Münster , Pavia , Milan and Bochum . In 1966 he passed the first state examination in philosophy and mathematics at the University of Münster . At the University of Milan he obtained the "Diploma di Perfezionamento in Filosofia". His doctorate as Dr. phil. followed in 1970 at the Ruhr University Bochum . He spent the following time as a research assistant at the Lower Saxony University of Education in Oldenburg and at the University of Oldenburg . He completed his habilitation at the University of Oldenburg, where he then worked as a private lecturer, temporary professor and since 1988 as an adjunct professor.

Büttemeyer was also a guest lecturer at the universities of Milan , Bremen and Rostock . He is a foreign member of the Galilei Academy of Sciences and Arts in Padua and since 1994 co-founder and chairman of the Filosofia-Italiana-Stiftung in Oldenburg.

Focus

Büttemeyer's research and teaching focuses include logic, epistemology and philosophy of science, philosophy of mathematics, Italian philosophy of the 19th and 20th centuries, and musical aesthetics .
