Wilhelm Backes

Wilhelm Backes (born July 25, 1921 in Pfalzel , † September 12, 1991 in Trier ) was a German administrative officer and politician ( SPD ).

Life

After attending primary school in Pfalzel and attending a private commercial school for one year, Backes completed an apprenticeship as a legal assistant from 1936 to 1939. This was followed by participation in the Second World War from 1939 to 1944 . From 1946 to 1958 he was employed by the Ehrang administration. In 1958 he moved to the higher service of the Trier city administration as a civil servant , where he was promoted to magistrate in 1965. Most recently he worked for the city as a councilor and city pensioner.

Backes joined the SPD in 1946. From 1950 to 1963 he was chairman of the SPD local association Pfalzel, from 1958 to 1969 chairman of the SPD district association Trier-Land and from 1965 to 1969 a member of the SPD district committee Rhineland / Hessen-Nassau. In 1969 he was elected chairman of the SPD city association of Trier. From 1952 to 1965 he was a member of the district council and the district committee in the Trier district . In the district council he was from 1956 to 1965 chairman of the social democratic group .

Backes belonged to the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate from October 22, 1965, when he replaced the resigned MP Karl Haehser , until 1975. In the state elections in 1967 and 1971 , he was elected to parliament via the SPD's state list . In the state parliament he was a member of the committee for administrative reform from 1967 to 1975 and from 1967 to 1971 a member of the budget and finance committee.

Wilhelm Backes was married to Anna, born in 1944. Michl, and had three children.
