Wilhelm Bleyer (born July 14, 1905 in Munich ; † December 4, 1983 ibid) was a German Roman Catholic theologian and first chairman of the Munich Youth Welfare Association

Live and act

After graduating from high school in 1923, Bleyer studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Universities of Innsbruck and Munich at the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich and was ordained a priest in 1928. Since he did not yet have the prescribed age of ordination, he received special permission from the Vatican. He then taught religion at various grammar schools, as well as at elementary and vocational schools. In 1940 he was obliged to do military service as a medic. When he returned from the war in 1944, during which he had also worked temporarily as a military chaplain, he took over the Maria-Hilf parish in Munich. Three years later he was appointed church rector of St. Barbara in Munich.

Already in 1929 Bleyer became the first chairman of the Youth Social Welfare Association Munich e. V. (formerly Apprentice Protection Association) and was also appointed director of the newly built apprentice and youth home on Berlepschstrasse in Munich. As part of his work, he initiated the establishment of several facilities for male apprentices and students in Bavaria. At this point, his services for the design and expansion of the Kirchseeon vocational training center , the youth residences in Rosenheim, Landshut and Munich-Pasing, which today bears his name, should be emphasized . He was also responsible for the establishment of the technical college for social work (today Catholic foundation college in Munich ) and the college for youth and home education (today the Catholic college for social education in Munich ). Hermann Zeit took over the directorate for both training centers . For many years, Bleyer taught religion and charity studies at the former training center. 1979 Bleyer put the office of the first chairman of the youth welfare organization Munich e. V. down.
