Wilhelm Eckert

Wilhelm Eckert (born June 10, 1899 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † November 12, 1980 ibid) was a German lawyer , university professor , administrative officer and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduation in 1919 Eckert took a degree in law and political science at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg in which he in 1922 with the graduation to the Dr. rer. pole. finished. From 1923 to 1930 he worked for Baden trade associations for industry, trade and crafts, had been in-house counsel at the Baden Chamber of Crafts since 1930 and was dismissed for political reasons after the National Socialists came to power. He then worked as a tax advisor and accountant in Berlin . From 1940 to 1945 he took part in World War II as a soldier , most recently as Army War Council of the Reserve. At the end of the war he was taken prisoner.

In 1945/46 Eckert was again the syndic of the Baden Chamber of Crafts. In 1947 he became associate professor for social sciences and work sciences at the State Administration Academy in Speyer and was later given a chair there. After moving to the administrative service, he was Ministerial Director in the Ministry of Finance of the State of Baden-Württemberg from 1952 to 1959 .

Eckert joined the CDU after 1945 and had been a city councilor in Freiburg since 1946. In 1946/47 he was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of Baden and was then elected to the Baden State Parliament, of which he was a member until 1952. From January 23, 1948 until his resignation on March 7, 1952, he served as Minister of Finance in the government of the state of Baden led by President Leo Wohleb .
