Volkmar Kunze

Volkmar Richard Kunze (born June 28, 1954 in Radebeul ) is a German local politician of the FDP , specialist lecturer for administrative and local law and former mayor .

Live and act

Born in Radebeul in 1954 . In Radebeul, he was trained as a machining specialist at the local Planeta printing machine plant . After completing his Abitur , working at the Radebeul high-voltage armatures factory and three years of alternative military service , he studied administrative law and political science at the Academy for Political and Legal Sciences in Potsdam-Babelsberg from 1979 to 1984 . In 1988 he received his doctorate in economics and social sciences ( Dr. rer. Pol. ) In the field of trade law .

Already since 1979 employee of the LDPD , in 1983 Kunze became district secretary in Großenhain and from 1988 to 1990 mayor of the city of Radebeul .

In 1990 Kunze was one of the founders of the GDR City and Municipal Association , of which he was chairman until it was merged with the German Association of Cities and Municipalities . Kunze was elected Lord Mayor of Zeitz in 2009. He prevailed against Dieter Kmietczyk in the runoff election . In 2016 Volkmar Kunze was defeated by his successor Christian Thieme (58.76%) with 41.24% in the runoff election .
