Christian Thieme (born December 30, 1972 in Hamburg ) is a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ) and Lord Mayor of Zeitz since 2016 .

Life

After graduating from high school at the humanistic Christianeum (1993), Thieme did community service . He then studied law at the University of Hamburg and the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . In 1999 he succeeded in the free attempt . He completed his legal clerkship in Saxony-Anhalt at the end of 2001 with the assessor exam. From 2002 he worked as a lawyer in Rostock . In 2005 he joined the insolvency administration firm hww hermann wienberg wilhelm in Hamburg . In 2007 he passed the specialist lawyer examination for insolvency law and acquired the IGZ certificate for forced administration. He holds the title of Certified Restructuring and Reorganization Expert (RWS) and is a trained mediator (DAA). Due to his involvement in the Bundeswehr, he was appointed lieutenant in the reserve in 2012. As a member of the CDU -Ortsverband Stadtmitte (Rostock) , he decided to run for the office of Lord Mayor of Zeitz in 2015 . After winning the necessary runoff election on March 13, 2016 with a clear lead over incumbent Volkmar Kunze ( FDP ), he took office on May 2, 2016.

Thiemes ancestors were entrepreneurs in Zeitz and owners of the Oehmig-Weidlich and Zitza factories. Carl von Thieme , co-founder of Münchner Rückversicherung and Allianz Versicherung, was the brother of his great-great-grandfather Hermann Thieme, who in turn was a secret councilor in Zeitz. Thiemes' great, great, great grandfather Johann Gottlob Landmann, owner of the Pirkau manor, was involved in founding the Zeitz sugar factory in 1858. Sven Thieme , CEO of Ohlthaver & List , Namibia's largest private company, is his cousin. Christian Thieme is married and has two children. He is a member of the Corps Rhenania Hamburg (1995), Borussia Halle (1996), Franconia Tübingen (1999), Saxonia Leipzig (2002) and Vandalia Rostock (2009). From 2012 to 2015 he sat on the board of the Association of Old Corps Students . For his services he was honored with the silver bowl of the VAC. Alongside Alfred Nerger and Arthur Jubelt, Thieme is the third member of the Corps Franconia Tübingen who holds the office of Lord Mayor in Zeitz.
