Wilhelm Engelhardt (director)

Wilhelm Engelhardt (born June 11, 1952 in Ried in der Riedmark , Austria ) is an Austrian film director and screenwriter .

Life

After graduating from high school in Linz , Wilhelm Engelhardt studied philosophy and German in Salzburg . From 1976 to 1979 he studied directing and acting at the Mozarteum . During his studies he assisted in television productions. After graduating, he worked as an assistant director at the Münchner Kammerspiele for two years . He has worked as a freelance director since 1981, initially directing advertising and industrial films and working as assistant director to Axel Corti , Peter Keglevic , Vivian Naefe , Hanns Christian Müller and Joseph Vilsmaier . Since staging several episodes of the television series Balko and Die Kommissarin in 1996 , Engelhardt has been a regular television director.
