Wilhelm Franke (writer)
Wilhelm Franke (born May 28, 1901 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary ; died February 24, 1979 there ) was an Austrian teacher and writer.
Life
Wilhelm Franke attended the teacher training college in St. Pölten , where he was a student of the Germanist and historian Heinrich Raab . He began to work as a secondary school teacher in Litschau in the Waldviertel and later worked in Gmünd . After his retirement he lived in Vienna. The sculptor Andreas Richter was his son-in-law.
Franke wrote prose and poetry. In 1933 his first volume of poetry was published, Wirrnis und Weg . His poetry dealt with life in the Lower Austrian villages. In 1938 he received the Julius Reich Prize for the collection of poems Wanderer im Waldland . Richard Maux set some poems to music.
