Wilhelm Frorath

Wilhelm Frorath (born January 18, 1776 at the Forsthof near Hammerstein , † July 14, 1839 in Hadamar ) was a German teacher and member of parliament .

Frorath was the son of the estate manager Peter Frorath (born January 21, 1747) and his wife Anna Maria nee Klein. He attended the Latin school in Andernach , the grammar school in Koblenz and then studied in Würzburg . From 1796 to 1806 he was Carl Lossen's private tutor . From 1806 to 1816 he was professor of philosophy and mathematics at the gymnasium in Montabaur and from 1815 provisional rector there. In 1816 he switched to the education department in Hadamar as rector . After his death, Joseph Muth succeeded him. Frorath was a representative of enlightened Catholicism .

Before 1819 he married Theresia nee Hof (f) mann.

In a by-election for Christian Wilhelm Snell in 1829, Frorath was elected for the group of heads of the clergy and higher education institutions in the Chamber of Deputies of the estates of the Duchy of Nassau . He was a member of the state parliament until 1832.

Frorath was the author of many works on educational issues and school books.
