Wilhelm Gottlieb Beyer

Christian Wilhelm Franz Gottlieb Beyer , also Wilhelm Theophilus Beyer (born December 25, 1801 in Parchim , † August 11, 1881 in Schwerin ) was a German lawyer and archivist.

Life

Wilhelm Gottlieb Beyer was a son of the Protestant theologian and superintendent of the Parchim church district Georg Gottlieb Beyer (1737–1808) from his second marriage to Juliane Friederike, née. Brandt (1762-1819).

Beyer attended the Friedrich-Franz-Gymnasium (Parchim) and the Fridericianum Schwerin before studying theology, history and law at the Friedrichs-Universität Halle and the University of Rostock from 1820 . On June 10, 1831, he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD. He first worked as a lawyer in Parchim , then from 1845/46 as a secretary at the Secret and Main Archives in Schwerin. In 1863 he became archivist and in 1867 archivist. When he retired in 1880, he was given the character of a secret archivist .

Wilhelm Gottlieb Beyer had been a member since 1835 and an honorary member since 1876 of the Association for Mecklenburg History and Archeology . He was the bearer of the house order of the Wendish Crown .

His estate with material collections on Mecklenburg history, records of his collection of civil seals, manuscripts and correspondence is in the Schwerin State Main Archive .
