Wilhelm Hartkopf (born July 14, 1862 in Solingen , Rhine Province ; † September 21, 1918 in Dessau , Anhalt ) was a German genre and portrait painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Hartkopf studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1881 to 1887/1888 . There he was a student of Peter Janssen the Elder , Eduard Gebhardt and Julius Roeting . He ran a painting school in Magdeburg before going to Dessau in 1905. There he was mainly active as a portrait painter. With Fritz Buchholz , Wilhelm Danz , Oskar Hassebrauck (1863–1925), Friedrich Hüllweck , Wilhelm Schulze-Rose and Emanuel Semper , around 1906 he belonged to the Dessau Artists' Colony and Association of Visual Artists Dessau .
