Wilhelm Fiehn

Wilhelm Fiehn (also Wilhelm Heinrich Fiehn ; born May 3, 1851 in Verden , † May 12, 1931 in Hanover ) was a German school director .

Life

In 1869 he received the certificate of maturity at the Domgymnasium Verden . He went to Berlin to study philology . At Easter 1870 he joined the 56th regiment as a one-year volunteer in Göttingen , took part in the entire French campaign and was released in July 1871 as vice sergeant in the reserve . In 1871 he went to Göttingen to resume the interrupted studies and studied there until 1874. From there he was employed as a probandus at the grammar school in Verden, and in 1875 he passed the exam pro facultate docendi in German , Latin and history . He then completed a probationary year at Lyceum 2 in Hanover and was a full teacher at this institution from 1876 to 1884, most recently as full professor of the Quarta. In 1884 he was transferred to the Leibniz Realgymnasium in Hanover. From 1886 he was a teacher at Realgymnasium I (later Tellkampfschule ). From 1894 he was elected director of Realgymnasium I. He held this post until his retirement in 1912.

Around 1910 he went blind due to late damage from the French campaign .

family

Wilhelm Heinrich was the son of the teacher Matthias Wilhelm Fiehn and Margaretha Heitmann and the husband of Mathilde Schäfer; their children were Hans Fiehn , Else and Rudolph.

Memberships

Fiehn was chairman of the German Association of Philologists .
