Wilhelm J. Brinkmann

Wilhelm J. Brinkmann (born December 20, 1947 in Recklinghausen ) is a German teacher and correspondence chess player . He is professor i. R. for general education at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel .

Career and life

After graduating from high school in Recklinghausen, Brinkmann studied pedagogy, sociology, philosophy and psychology at the Universities of Münster and Würzburg from 1966 to 1975. He completed his studies with a doctorate on the profession of teacher and worked from 1975 to 1983 as a research assistant at the Institute for Education in Würzburg.

After a year-long substitute for a professorship at the University of Augsburg , he received his habilitation in 1984 in Würzburg (subject: "On the history of pedagogical sociology in Germany"). Following various teaching assignments and substitute professorships, from 1990 to 2013 he held the chair for general pedagogy at the pedagogical institute of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . Nicole Welter was appointed as his successor in 2014 .

From 1984 to 2011 Brinkmann was a member of the federal board of the German Child Protection Association. V . Since 1997 he has been co-editor of the quarterly journal for scientific pedagogy .

Brinkmann has been married to Marie-Theres Brinkmann-Resmer since 1972 and has three children.

Research and Teaching

Brinkmann is a representative of the humanities education . The philosophies of Friedrich Schleiermacher and Wilhelm Dilthey (both Kiel scholars) can be found in Brinkmann's writings and lectures as well as the fundamental ideas of Werner Lochs - Brinkmann's predecessor at the University of Kiel. The influences of the Würzburg pedagogue Winfried Böhm can also be seen.

Brinkmann's main research areas are general pedagogy, differential pedagogy, as well as various fields of educational science located in pedagogical theory.

Wilhelm J. Brinkmann is a correspondence chess player. In 2009 he was awarded the titles of International Master (IM) and Honored International Master (SIM) by the International Correspondence Chess Federation (ICCF) . In 2011 he won the 48th German senior correspondence chess championship. His first chess club was SV Lasker Langenbochum . He later played for Caïssa Münster and SV Würzburg . He has played for Flensburger SK since 1990 .

In close chess he plays in the second division in Denmark and in Germany in the national league. At FIDE he is registered for the Danish Chess Federation.
