Wilhelm Josef Anton Werber

Wilhelm Josef Anton Werber (born September 2, 1800 in Ettenheim , Baden , † February 18, 1873 in Freiburg ) was a German doctor and professor at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . Werber completed his habilitation in medicine in 1821 and was appointed associate professor in 1830. From 1835 he was a full professor of pathology, history and encyclopedia of medicine. He also read about philosophy. His son is the doctor and lecturer Anton Werber (1840–1872).

Life

Werber attended the Latin school in Mahlberg and later the grammar school in Freiburg. In 1816 the study of philosophy began at the university in the same place. He spent a year in Aarau studying literature under Messrs. Kotum and Gerlach. In 1822 he graduated in philosophy while studying medicine. Study trips took advertisers to Basel , Halle and Jena . In 1824 he was a lecturer in the philosophy faculty at Freiburg University. After a year and a half, he moved to Heidelberg to devote himself to practical medicine. After extensive trips to Switzerland and Italy , he returned to Freiburg and in the autumn of 1827 he passed his state examination with "excellent good". In 1830 he became an associate professor and four years later a full professor.
