Wilhelm Joseph von Weichs (born September 1, 1716 ; † May 28, 1786 in Paderborn ) was provost in Paderborn and canon in Münster and Hildesheim .

Life

Origin and family

Wilhelm Joseph von Weichs came as the son of the chief hunter Franz Otto Freiherr von Weichs zu Körtlinghausen (1675–1738, builder of the Körtlinghausen Castle ) and his wife Anna Theresia Agatha von Droste zu Füchten of the Westphalian noble family von Weichs . His brother Philipp Franz (1714–1755) was also a canon in Münster.

Act

In 1733 Wilhelm Joseph received a cathedral preacher from Elector Clemens August in Paderborn . After studying at the University of Trier , in 1750, after the resignation of Canon Clemens August von Twickel, he obtained a cathedral canon in Münster . On March 21, 1757 he was elected cathedral dean in Paderborn. In 1763 he was also canon of Hildesheim and in 1773 renounced it in Muenster favor of his nephew Joseph Franz . The election to the cathedral provost in Paderborn fell on October 2, 1775.
