Wilhelm Kosegarten
Wilhelm Kosegarten (born November 27, 1792 in Altengamm ; † July 12, 1868 in Graz ) was a German political scientist, economist and professor in Graz.
Life
He was the son of pastor Johann Joachim Kosegarten and the nephew of Ludwig Gotthard Kosegarten . After visiting the Johanneum in Hamburg , Kosegarten studied law in Göttingen and was awarded a doctorate there in 1815. jur. PhD, 1838 in Bonn as Dr. phil. He held his first lectures on economics and politics in Bonn, which he continued in Vienna from 1850 . From 1855 to 1868 Kosegarten was an associate professor of political science in Graz .
In 1833 he stayed in Italy, in 1843 he traveled to Russia with A. von Haxthausen . In 1856 his main work "Historical and systematic overview of the national economy or economics as the basis of economic policy" appeared. Politically, he belonged to the conservative direction. Being close to the Christian social movement, Kosegarten was an opponent of civil equality and the representative constitution . He fought freedom of trade , disapproved protective tariffs, defended corporate forms of government and planned Catholic workers' representatives and health insurance funds.
