Wilhelm Ludwig Petermann

Wilhelm Ludwig Petermann (born November 3, 1806 in Leipzig , † January 27, 1855 in Hanover ) was a Saxon , German botanist .

Petermann studied medicine and botany at the University of Leipzig from 1826 and received his habilitation in botany there in 1835. From 1835 to 1841 he was a private lecturer and from 1841 to 1855 an associate professor at the University of Leipzig and supervisor of the herbarium of the botanical garden in Leipzig . His botanical author abbreviation is " Peterm. "
