Wilhelm Marhold

Wilhelm Marhold (born August 14, 1953 in Vienna ) is an Austrian gynecologist and hospital manager. From 2005 to 2014 he was General Director of the Vienna Hospital Association .

Career

Marhold received his doctorate in medicine in 1981 from the University of Vienna. After four years of assistantship at the Institute for Anatomy in Vienna, Wilhelm Marhold began his regular training at the Lainz Hospital , where he later began training as a specialist in gynecology under the direction of Sepp Leodolter and graduated in 1988. Under Marhold, an obstetric-gynecological ultrasound clinic was set up for the first time in Lainz. From 1984 to 1988 Marhold was head of the high risk pregnancy department. From 1987 to 1993 he worked as a university lecturer at the 1st University Women's Clinic of the Medical Faculty of the University of Vienna .

In 1999 Marhold graduated from the Vienna University of Economics with a diploma in hospital management with distinction.

During his tenure as presidential advisor to the Medical Association for Vienna (1994–1998), Marhold was appointed Medical Director of the Rudolfstiftung Hospital in Vienna (1997).

After being appointed head of the hospitals division in mid-December 2004, Marhold was General Director of the Vienna Hospital Association from March 1, 2005 to May 31, 2014 . During his tenure, he made the decisive decisions on the planning and construction of the North Hospital in Vienna.

In 1989, Marhold published the textbook Perinatal Ultrasound Diagnostics together with Sepp Leodolter .
